He is here.
So my last blog post seemed to end on a depressing note. And to be honest it hasn’t changed too much, but we’re all slowly getting back on our feet.
I’ve been feeling better in terms of hearing God and knowing he is here. The other day in team time, one of our squad leaders, James, had us practice some listening prayer. We were listening to God for one person on our team. All of us put our names in a draw and made sure we didn’t look at who it was until after the prayer. So we all sat down, listened to worship music and listened for the Lord. It was definitely interesting because I didn’t think I would be able to hear him still. But He surprised me.
The person who had me, Charity, had written down everything I was feeling and needed to hear. I hadn’t told my team about not hearing or seeing God in the DR yet. So I knew it definitely was from him.
Here is what she got from Him speaking to her:
“I was l looking at the mountains and saw that a part of the mountain wasn’t visible because of the clouds. That’s God. Sometimes we think God isn’t with us or we can’t see Him in us or the situation. Trust that God is there even if the cloud covers Him. He’ll never leave. And a verse for you: I have loved you with an everlasting love. With an unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.”
Isn’t that incredible?!
She wouldn’t have any idea that I was feeling that way, about not seeing him. I think that is so amazing how God used her, to show me that He is still here even if I can’t see him. _____________________________________________________________________________________
Fast forward a couple of days..
Last night was so cool. As a squad we have all been practicing listening prayer. So in the midst of our prayer session I decided to look up. I was looking at the clouds moving by the mountains, and all at once they stopped. Almost as if it was God stopping to see me. It was so still, quiet, and peaceful. What he told me in that moment was scary but beautiful.
“Laiken, this next year you are going to grow, way more than you have in the past. You’re going to love how I love. Your heart is going to break for what breaks mine. You’re going to have so much fun, but don’t forget why I have sent you. You and your whole squad are going to bring more to see me and hear me. Even though you haven’t seen me or heard me until now… I’m always going to be right beside you. Trust me, you’re supposed to be here.”
I am so amazed at how God is working.
Also, our host’s daughter has been home from the hospital for a couple of days now. We are so happy she’s doing better. We have 2 amazing nurses on our squad that are helping her get better. And Amy and I are helping her and her sister with school work. It’s been so much fun getting to know them. And even though this past week has been a trying time, they are just so happy to be home.
I’ll hopefully be sharing more about my specific ministry this month (tutoring) later on. But for now I will end this blog.
You guys are awesome,
Laiken M.
this is awesome to hear Laiken. God works in many ways and you are right where you are supposed to be and God is using you whether you think He is or not! Keep looking for the moments and to Him!
