Well. Another day, another month, another travel day…
Going into month 7 of the race, I didn’t think I would say this but… life on the race has gotten pretty “normal”.
Not in the sense that it’s boring. But that i’m used to it.
I’m used to going into every month, not knowing anything.
I’m used to packing and repacking at least 5 times before heading to the next country.
- Because I’m trying to get rid of stuff to make my pack lighter… but end up keeping most anyways.
- We have a debrief or mini-debrief every month… so that’s at least 2 more unpacking and repacking times.
- Sometimes we stay in a hostel or campground before continuing travels… which means more unpacking and repacking.
I’m used to being in uncomfortable and uncontrollable situations.
I’m used to strange travel days where we either have to go through 4+ security checks in an airport. Or have to walk across the border with all our stuff.
I’m used to people asking me where I’m going and why.
I’m used to telling people that I’m from Canada… but the rest of my squad is from the USA.
I’m used to losing my mind a bit during travel days, because they stress me out.
I’m used to being crammed into tiny cars with at least 5 other people.
I’m used to smelling smells I don’t necessarily desire to smell.
I’m used to waiting around for 15 hours, and I’m also used to being rushed from airport security to the gate to walk right onto our plane.
Lastly, I’m used to trusting God in all these situations, because that’s all I can do.
It’s crazy to think that I would get used to this. From the start of the race to now. But that just comes with trusting God I guess.
Oh, I guess we‘re headed to Nepal now. Well, here we go again.
It’s amazing the situations you can get comfortable with when you trust in the Lord. See you in Nepal!
